World Earth Day on April 22

World Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 since 1970. This year’s campaign, announced by EARTHDAY.ORG (, is "Restore Our Earth". Five pillars of renewal have been presented: planting trees, food and environment, global cleanup, climate literacy, and global Earth challenge.

The ECO-SMART project aims to raise awareness of the community on the importance of ecosystem services and their vulnerability to climate change. Community capacity building for climate change resilience is embedded in all project activities. In doing so, the project joins initiatives to restore our planet's ecosystems and strengthen climate literacy. Through project activities, we are co-creating a supportive environment where local stakeholders can better understand the challenges and work together to design adaptation solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change that are already visible in coastal ecosystems. Become part of our project and together with us plan measures for the adaptation of the Natura 2000 pilot sites, which are part of our project. Together we will strengthen communities that are closely dependent on ecosystem services for the survival and well-being of current and future generations.
